Porosity #1

Eco-CD / DL

Theres something puritanical in extreme slowness: a swelling, expanding duress that implores the listener to obscurity, an abstract call to arms. Thomas Rosen, having specialised in this form of minimal, electro-acoustic drone music in his [BOLT] project, joins DAAM for a new e.p, under his RSN guise, “Porosity #1”.

Described by the artist as “a kind of meditative permeability”, this single long-form track works to '“create a seemingly endless surface that develops from the two-dimensional to the three-dimensional”, a description that aptly conjures the contrast of form and nothingness upon which the e.p. relies. Rather than a fast ride through its chosen soundscape, Porosity #1 presents itself rather as a walk across a landscape that hardly changes at all, all minor details and subtle deviations from the path. Bound by inconsequential rises in reverb, clouds of harmony that emerge and dissipate at will, the piece is nothing if not slow and deliberate, a gentle work that asks its listener to demonstrate the utmost patience.

Released as a limited-run eco-CD with hand-stamped covers, Porosity #1 represents the smallest of interventions into our far too busy lives: a much-needed moment away from the hub-bub that surrounds us.
