Distant Animals.
Distant Animals is the moniker of Daniel Alexander Hignell-Tully, a performance artist, composer, researcher, video-maker and writer from the UK. His work has been released on several notable experimental labels, including the likes of Hallow Ground, Nomad Exquisite, Infinite Sync, Engram, Norient, and Triple Bath. His research and writing has been published by several academic journals, including contributing a chapter to the CounterPress published book, Art/Law/Power.
He has written for several websites, including working as the editor for Toneshift, writing tutorials for Mixed In Key, and music reviews for Freq, Tusk and The Quietus. He has worked on projects across Europe, spanning classical composition, field-recording, modular synthesis, experimental performance and socio-political research. He received a PhD from Sussex University in 2017. Currently, Daniel lectures at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and runs the production company 7000 Trees.
