Nobuka.

Putting the punk back in ambient. Making music from a DIY mentality that pulls you in for a warm hug and punches you in the face at the same time. Always looking to experiment, to unsettle, both themselves and the audience… nobuka is non-conforming in all the right ways: in music, life and gender.

Free from conventions or expectations, nobuka creates a sound that is reminiscent of Jim O’Rourke and John Cage. Created with everything and anything: electric guitars, fieldrecordings, modular samplers and effects, tape recorders, household objects or things they found in the street.

In January 2024 nobuka presented a new live concept ‘Stranger’ at the WeSa Festival in Seoul, South Korea. A work that is based on the much heralded ‘l’etranger’ by Albert Camus, as well as the Dada movement and early avant garde cinema. Currently they are working on a multi-disciplinary project on an even bigger scale.
